Strengths....
Some of the strengths I have developed in regard to managing the learning environment and teaching effectively would be having a structured classroom. Having high expectations for my students as well as having a predictable schedule for my classroom will set my students up for success as they know what is expected from them in the classroom. Doing this will help me in having a well-managed classroom.
Challenges....
My main challenge would be being consistent in managing behavior issues. There are some behaviors I can see myself struggling to deal with. That being said I need to have a plan in place that will adequately address those behaviors before they happened. I need to remember not all behaviors are big issues and I have to pick my battles in my classroom. Having a behavior plan will help me as well as my students as they know the consequences of their behavior.
Overall Growth....
During the last semester I have learned a lot in regard to classroom management and effective teaching practices which will influence my future classroom. Looking specifically at instructional strategies I have learned about the big 9, how to differentiate, and different intelligences. Another big influence on my teaching practices were the many projects we worked on. One project in particular was the classroom rules and procedures project. This project helped me understand the importance of having high expectations for my students and making sure is the students are preforming an action you have a plan in place on how they will do it. It's not just teaching your students the rules and procedures once you have to revisit it and reteach and practice until your students can do it seamlessly. But lastly I learned having high expectations will help students grow as learners and individuals with your support.
